Will electric cars ever really be cheaper than gasoline cars?

Will electric cars ever really be cheaper than gasoline cars?
The advantage is the low cost of energy right? I am not even talking about the inconvenience of the low mileage at one time or he long recharge periods. What about the cost to repair these things when they break down? The cost of batteries and whatever fancy new computer stuff they will start coming out with is looking expensive.
