I want to be a lawyer?

I want to be a criminal or family lawyer
so in universtiy i was planning on getting a social work degree
then going to lawschool after. good or bad choice?

I was also thinking about getting an english degree
then at University of Toronto they have this dual course
of Social Word and Law. So I'd thought I'd do that.
