Is it still a good time to start a Web Design business?

I'll be graduating at the end of this year, from my web design and web development courses. Is it still a good time to start a web design business? And is it realistic to aim to earn £100K per year from web design and web development?

With an Associates degree, it's going to be difficult to find a career. However, the web design field is awesome, in that, a lot of people who are doing it, just picked it up along the way. I'm not sure about which companies are located in Minneapolis, but I can tell you that a great way to start is just by finding some local clients who need a site designed. Then just go over the top for them and make their site awesome. This way, you will be building up a portfolio of excellent work to present when you finally apply to a web design firm.
