The thing about Google that differentiates it from Facebook is that little black bar. FB is a one trick pony - you log in and then talk to people or play games.

That little black bar is your daily life - you send email, you create documents, you organise photos, you surf the web. It is all there available to you while the G+ icon on the right lets you know whether you have any notifications.
