How is the real estate market doing these days?

I am a college student but I'm thinking college might not be right for me so instead I'm thinking about getting a real estate license.

I know home sales were down for a while but how are they doing now? Have they gotten any better? Or worse?

I am very good with people and pretty persuasive so I believe that selling homes would be pretty easy for me. But if there is no market for it then its probably not a good idea.
