Question about renting out our home without property management.?

We have been renting our home out for over a year..we live 2 hours away from the home, so we pay a property management company to handle everything. Two days ago, our tenant contacted us about doing away with the company, and splitting the difference that we pay to the company.. We'd gain about only $25/ month doing this..Question is..is it very difficult to do this living 2 hours away? Everything has run so smoothly for the past year + So we don't know if it will be beneficial to deal directly with the tenant... Any advice would be appreciated.
