What do you have to do/achieve in high school to have a chance at getting into med school?

Hey 
I'm year 8 in high school and I was wondering what I could start doing do get better at science and learn the requirements for different universities to get into medical school (GCSE AS A level grades) and other stuff :/
Please explain the system to me! I really want to be a doctor and I want to know how to start giving myself the opportunity. Thank you!!!
