IPhone 3g Water Damage Questions? Empty IPhone 3g Water Damage Questions?

This Summer, My buddy jumped into the pool with this phone, and it was only in the water for about 2 mins, we put it in rice for a little bit and it didnt turn on. He gave me the phone, and it is now sitting in rice, as it will for the next few days, is there any way i can recover this phone?
